As we mark International Men’s Day (Nov 19), this year’s theme is well-being and promoting healthy lifestyles.

The day encourages positive male role models and fostering supportive communities for men to thrive.

Our Joint Managing Partner, David O’Malley, remarks on what he feels is important:

“I feel the traditional alpha male stereotype for leadership needed to change and thankfully is now evolving. Gone are the days of doffing the hat or the pinstripe suits. Leadership should be fostering a team.

My simple motto comes from the saying, ‘do not ask others to do what you would not do yourself’. My grandmother instilled that in me.
Be approachable.
Do not look down on others.
Take joy in other people’s achievements.
Mentor others whilst not hindering their growth.
Make your client the centrepiece of all your efforts.
Never have anyone be afraid to share a problem with you.
Most of all enjoy your work.
Winning is not everything, but every client deserves the best version of yourself.
Make time for family.
Cherish the good days.
Learn from the knocks.
Be there for your community.

And to quote my grandad Jim:
“to be a true leader, whatever task you do, make sure it is done with a whole heart.”
