Daniel DolphinOur Ms. Caroline McLaughlin represented the family of the late Daniel Dolphin (27) of Derroon, Ballymote, Co. Sligo at an Inquest into his death at Ballaghderreen Courthouse, Co Roscommon on 8th May, 2024. Mr. Dolphin was a passenger in a vehicle which was caused to crash into a tree on the R293 at Edmondstown, Co. Roscommon on 11th March, 2022.

Mr. Dolphin’s family, through a statement read by Ms. McLaughlin, called for safety on Irish roads. She told the Inquest in a Statement on behalf of the family:-

“Their loss is immeasurable- their hearts broken. Daniel was one of 155 people who died on Irish Roads in 2022. Too many lives are being lost on Irish roads. The Dolphin family call for safety on Irish roads. They pray that no family will experience the loss of a loved one in these circumstances.”

The family expressed their gratitude to the paramedics, fire officers and members of An Garda Siochana.

“Daniel is dearly missed every day by his family and friends. He was the joker of the family and his cheeky grin lit up every room he went into. He had a loving kind nature, a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone.”

The Coroner returned a verdict of accidental death.
