In May 2020, the Law Society of Ireland launched its Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (GEDI) Charter. Solicitors have been invited to sign the charter as a way of formally committing to the principles of gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. Callan Tansey Solicitors is delighted to be among the first firms to sign this charter in 2020.
What is the Law Society Gender Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Charter?
The signatories to the GEDI Charter, “commit to treating all individuals and groups of individuals fairly and equally and no less favourably, specific to their needs, in areas of gender, civil status, family status, sexual orientation, religion, age, race, class, disability or membership of the Traveller Community.”
Why have Callan Tansey become a signatory?
At Callan Tansey we celebrate the differences in those we represent and employ. We have long recognised that gender equality, diversity and inclusion has an impact on our work in the legal profession. To show our commitment to creating an environment built on mutual respect and equal opportunities for all we became signatory to the Law Society (GEDI) Charter.

By becoming a signatory, we are showing our further commitment, over and above existing policies, in the areas of gender equality, diversity and inclusion. We believe and we see through our work that there is ongoing failure in society to protect these fundamental values. It is important to us that we show our staff and clients our public commitment to the principles of gender equality, diversity, and inclusion. We hope by demonstrating this commitment that it will encourage others to do likewise.
