Our Caroline McLaughlin has been elected president of the Sligo Solicitors Bar Association (SSBA).
Ms McLaughlin is joined on the new committee by Joanne Irwin of Damien Tansey Solicitors LLP as secretary, Noel Kelly of Noel Kelly Solicitors as treasurer, and Carol Ballantyne of Murphy Ballantyne, Darelle Conway of McDermott Creed & Martyn and Francis Gaughan of Hegarty & Armstrong LLP as committee members.
Outgoing president Fiona Gallagher welcomed members of the association, which represents solicitors in Sligo town and county, to their recent AGM.
She expressed thanks to the outgoing committee — comprising secretary John Anderson, Ms McLaughlin as public relations officer, CPD officer Joanne Irwin and Mr Kelly as treasurer — on another successful year, highlighting in particular the association’s annual CPD day at the Sligo Park Hotel in October.
The CPD event welcomed over 100 solicitors nationwide to a day-long series of seminars, with speakers on topics including legal costs, coaching and culture in law firms, mediation, marketing for law firms, business trends in the legal profession and updates on personal injury law.
As a mark of appreciation, a presentation was made to Ms Gallagher to thank her for her dedication and leadership over her two-year term as president.
New president Ms McLaughlin told Irish Legal News: “We look forward to the year ahead, the opportunity to welcome new members to Sligo Solicitors Bar Association and to continue to support our members through the provision of local CPD events and networking opportunities.”
